Film, TV, Animation (Disney, Fox Animation), and novel veteran, Mat Nastos, returns to the Amazing Houston Comic Con! Nastos is no stranger to the Houston crowd. He ran Odyssey Comics & Cards in Cypress, TX during the 90s, and his own family was from Houston!
This year, Mat brings his latest comic project, the giant robot series, SHOGUN KNIGHT DYSON V. Growing up in the 80s, his afternoons were spent in front of the TV watching Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z), Getta Robo, Giant Robo, Voltron, and the like. Marvel Comics’ SHOGUN WARRIORS series was another major influence on Mat.
At 9″x12″, SHOGUN KNIGHT DYSON V is certainly not a subtle love letter to the 1970s Japanese Super Robot cartoons and comics.
It’s the longing for those over the top action heroes and sequences that made Mat pursue SHOGUN KNIGHT DYSON V: with the corrupt Titan, BLACK ODIN, on a rampage, it is up to Lieutenant Jonathan “Hightower” Harmon and his team to awaken the guardian robot, DYSON-V, to stop him.
With artwork from Nastos, Nicolas Giacondino and Chunlin Zhao and letters from Ed Dukeshire, this tribute is a geek’s love letter to his childhood companions.
